Carbon emissions in the EU

Carbon emissions in the EU

There is a lot of talk about carbon emissions in the EU, some better, some less. And the truth is, in all this confusion, many of us were a little confused. I didn’t understand exactly what these emissions look like, what they have to do with us, or what we can do about them.

Well, don’t worry. In the following lines we will calmly talk about emissions and the individual carbon footprint at a European level.

Let’s say goodbye to coals…

As we well know, for many years now, the electricity we consume was produced by burning coal. But this was a serious problem for our planet, because coal, unfortunately, is in limited quantity. And the more we burn, the more we dry out the planet and destroy the atmosphere through carbon emissions in the EU.

That is why the European Union is making serious efforts to reduce these emissions and move towards a green future. And these efforts, it seems, have borne fruit. Statistics showed that in 2020 coal left the main energy producers in Romania. In the last year, coal was responsible for only 16.5% of the energy consumed in Romania, the rest came from renewable sources.

The European Union and emissions reduction: how and why?

For several years now the European Union has been committed to reducing its carbon footprint and emissions. In an effort to preserve this beautiful planet we live on, the EU has issued several green directives in recent years.

And since each country is different, so are the European directives received, personalized according to each person’s needs. Each of the 27 member states of the European Union therefore undertakes to implement a certain set of measures, to contribute to a broader and more unitary objective.

Until recently, the united goal of EU member states was to reduce carbon emissions in the EU by 30% by 2030. But just last week, the European Union announced an even more ambitious project. According to it, member states commit to reducing emissions by 55% over the next 9 years.

It’s about a tall and imposingwhich will however require some sacrifices and adequate efforts. What this new directive means for us is that the supply of electricity and natural gas will change dramatically from what it is today.

But, fortunately, we are ready at Restart Energy!

Carbon emissions in the EU and the Restart Energy Democracy initiative

We at Restart Energy are proud to be green energy providers in Romania. I intend? In a free translation, this means this the electricity we supply to customers comes (partially or totally) from renewable sources. Basically this is solar energy, which does not affect the limited resources of our planet.

Why do we do this? Because we realize that we only have one planet, namely the one we are sitting on right now. And yes, maybe it would be easier to put it off until tomorrow, or say that it’s not a problem now. But in reality we all know that putting it off until tomorrow and ignoring a problem has never led to its solution.

As, I started the Restart Energy Democracy projectbased on blockchain technology.

From RED platform (Restart Energy Democracy) we want to help companies and individuals reduce their carbon footprint and thus contribute to a greener future.

As I said, the RED platform is built on blockchain technology. So, RED is the first platform of its kind that aims to reduce emissions nationally and internationally.

Companies and any user of the platform will be able to purchase certificates of origin from green energy producers in the form of NFT tokens. These tokens can be transformed into sustainability certificates. The certificates will publicly demonstrate participation in the CO2 emissions compensation project on the RED platform. Not only that, but the green action will be recorded on the blockchain. Therefore, all recorded actions can be transparently verified.

Furthermore, each consumer will receive free token rewards for the green energy consumed. Therefore, if you are a Restart Energy customer, you will receive free tokens based on the 57% green energy consumed month by month.

So come and take part in this initiative. We invite you to learn more about the Restart Energy Democracy project Here. Follow us for more details on this project!

Renewable energy at Restart Energy

Even as part of efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the EU, we at Restart Energy have understood that it is not just a matter of words. That’s why recently we have invested in a 45 MWh photovoltaic park in the town of Sarmasag in Salaj County.

What will we do here?

We believe that the photovoltaic park is only a first step in our 500 MWh renewable energy plan, which we aim to complete by 2025. The park itself, we hope to be operational in the first quarter of the following year. It will have a production of 55 million kWh, more than enough to provide electricity from renewable sources to 30,000 homes and families.

Furthermore, we estimate that during 25 years of operation, the Restart Energy photovoltaic park will avoid the emission of 1.23 million tons of CO2, thus contributing to European directives to reduce carbon emissions in the EU.

On top of all this, the Sarmasag photovoltaic park will create over 100 jobs. We are actively involved in supporting the Romanian economy in the future.
